WORD OF THE DAY – Fujoshi

Just for shits 'n giggles, I thought it would be fun to do a word of the day related to boys' love since periodically I run across a word I do not know and have to look up.  Some of these, most everyone knows but I don't like to assume so I am going to add them anyway.  BTW, I will try to do this everyday but there may be the occasional day I just don't.  :-)

Since I used this word earlier, I thought why not start with it.

"Fujoshi (lit. "rotten girl") is a pejorative Japanese term for female fans of manga and novels that feature romantic relationships between men, often with the implication of Yaoi concept. It is also a homophonous pun on fujoshi, a term for respectable women. The name originated with members of the demographic, who self-deprecatingly refer to their way of thinking, which perceives homosexual relationships between male characters in stories that do not include homosexual themes as being "rotten". "Fujoshi" carries a connotation of being a "fallen woman".[1]"

YAOI NOVEL REVIEW: Secret Moon – Siira Gou

Most of the story in Secret Moon takes place in present day Japan but bits and pieces of the story refer back to other times in other places due to the fact that Akihiro is a sort of vampire and has been living for over 100 years. He’s not a true vampire, though, which I think makes this story different from a typical vampire tale. He doesn’t have fangs and he won’t attack humans but he does have to drink blood on a daily basis to survive and can’t be out in the day light. One night while taking a stroll through the “bad” part of town, he spots Taichi Yamagami, who has gotten himself into a bit of trouble. Akihiro helps him out and that is the beginning of their time together. What is meant to be a one night stand quickly turns into something more as Akihiro realizes Taichi isn’t your typical human. Quiet and reserved by day, arrogant and wild by night, Akihiro feels like he’s dating two different people and takes on the task of merging these two very separate personalities, but doing so means battling the powers of the moon.

BOYS’ LOVE GAMES – Where to Buy

I just ordered my first boys' love computer game and was curious as to who else plays them? I never have (tried downloading one to try first but gave up and figured I'll just risk buying it and hating it).  If you are curious as to where to find them, JAST USA and Rightstuf (TRSI) both have them although it appears TRSI doesn't have them all in stock at the moment.  Here's who has what:

JAST USA - Falsely Accused – Enzai, Animamundi – Dark Alchemist & Absolute Obedience - Zettai Fukuju Meirei (it appears these are all in stock but Web site isn't 100% clear on it)

TRSI (Rightstuf) - Falsely Accusted (in stock) & Absolute Obedience – Zettai Fukuju Meirei (backorder)

JAST USA also sells a TON of hentai games so the link above is to both hentai and BL games so just scroll down to find them.  I just bought Absolute Obedience as it got a good review and is really dirty (I have a ton of pictures from the game on my computer so I can see first hand).  Feel free to comment as to what you have, what's good, what's bad or whatever.

YAOI MANGA REVIEW: Seduce Me After The Show

I’ll be honest; I hemmed and hawed when it came to this title.  At first I was all gung-ho but upon finding out there wasn’t a lot of graphic sex, I decided to pass.  Then I started to hear some good things about it and started to reconsider.  Obviously, I changed my mind, hence my review.

M/M EROTICA REVIEW: Katana Duet ~ Silapa Jarun

Wow… where to start with this one.  First off let me start by saying that I was asked to review this novel by the author and given a free copy of the eBook (it is also available as a hard copy book as well).  I jumped right into the 117 page story (it is a novella so shorter than a full novel but longer than a short story) and finished it off in one day.  The eBook copy I had was full 8.5” x 11” size and, like Sleight of Hand, contained no illustrations other than the cover.

The story itself is best described as a psychological thriller with some twincest thrown in for good measure.  The author, Silapa Jarun, has clearly done her homework when it comes to this historical novel.  The main characters are the two twin samurai, Aki and Akeno, and a brother and sister duo who take them into their home upon their arriving separately in the U.S. (ironically enough, they come to Wisconsin upon their arrival, my home state and current resident).  The story deals with a few different intertwining issues: Aki and Akeno dealing with their feelings for one another as well as the push and pull of what it means to be a twin; the ongoing research into trying to find a cure for the plague that haunts the residents of the area as well as the sister, Klara; and the secrets Klara and her brother Konrad keep hidden from all around them.
