SITE NEWS: Bits ‘n Pieces & Lots of Thanks

Wow, what a great launch and turnout there has been! We've had over 1500 visitors to the site this week and I hope each and every one of you has found what you were looking for. I want to take this moment to thank a few people who really helped me out with getting this site up and running:

Alex Woolfson from Yaoi 911 for setting me off in the right direction on how best to set this whole thing up.

Lissa Pattillo from Kuriousity and the new Boys-Luv.com for giving me TONS of CSS coding help. That woman's a saint!

Deb Aoki from About.com: Manga for general blogging do's and don'ts because even after a year, I'm still learnin'!

I'd also like to thank the blogs who in some way linked to me this week with either the news of the new site or linking to my posts or site in general:

MangaBlog

Anime News Network

Japanator

Icarus Comics

Anime and Manhwa Reviews

Manga Bookshelf

Blyme

Last but not least, all the supporters on twitter who retweeted me all week and anyone else I may have missed, thank you!

Some other site changes to be aware of:

I've changed my grading scale for reviews so hopefully they better represent an accurate grade. Instead of 5 categories like I had (plot, characters, sexual content, readability/translation and illustration) I've gone down to 4 and made plot and readability/translation all one category.

I'm still bringing reviews from the old LiveJournal community over to here so eventually all past reviews will be here. All other content I felt was relevant has been transferred over already.

Last but not least, I have changed how comments show up in posts to be more like LiveJournal. You can now comment specifically to a person and the comments will be nested like a conversation AND you *should* receive email notification if someone responds to your comment. Unfortunately when I test post to myself, it doesn't notify me but I'm the admin so that's why.

I’ve been trying to dig out of a snow bank. Finally, had to throw volumes of yaoi on it to melt my way out. Whew! finally free. :D

  • Well, I’m flatered, thanks for listing my site, even if it’s only written in alien Portuguese. I went for my mother language instead of english that could be more popular and accessible to fans because I wanted to help my country getting information.

So I should be the one thanking you, since your blog inspires me and provides a lot of material for my readers. Also I’m really excited to get my host space where you indicated and I bought the GloBL you recommended, so you’re a life savior. ^^

Long life to The Yaoi Review!

Awww! *hugs* Thank you! Hey, we need sites in other languages. There are enough in English and you’re probably the only one in Portuguese! :-)
