YAOI NEWS: YaoiCon, Junjo, New Yaoi Anime & More!

So much news, so little time…

Let's start with some YaoiCon news, shall we? DMP teased us with this little snippet regarding their YaoiCon guest:

Oooooo-we already have our guest for Yaoi Con! Whoooo! But can't say yet. HA!

Any guesses? If not, who do you WISH it was? Of course, it would have to be a mangaka they have or will be publishing.

There's going to be a new book ABOUT boys' love released soon that contains 14 essays written about the subject. Your thoughts? Would you read it?

Season one of Junjo Romantica will be released May 4th of this year and will include extra videos and a 24 page booklet.

In related news, another of Shungiku Nakamura's works (the creator of Junjo) is going to be getting its own anime. Sekai-Ichi Hasukoi actually has some crossover with Junjo in that a few of Junjo's characters are included in the story.

Last but not least, I've created a Formspring account so if you've been dying to ask me a question but just didn't know how, now you can. I've already answered 44 questions ranging from my favorite yaoi to how I feel about scanlations to where do I live (personal much? XD).

  • I would really LOVE to read this book with essays but it’s way too expensive, I could buy a pack with two or three good books about male homoerotica that happen to be a bit older for the same price. Or a bunch of manga at Akadot, Yaoi Club, etc.

    I’ll wait until it gets on sales, but I’m very interested. Dolar is raising again, it’s costing almost 2 R$ (Reais). T_T My poor idea of making a little store is just sinking.

    I saw this YaoiCon tease at twitter, and I’m really curious too.

    I’ll probably end up buying but certainly not at full price! >.< That’s a lot!

    Awww… sorry to hear about your idea but yay for the dollar rising! XD Not that I’m traveling anywhere anytime soon but damn. Couldn’t afford it even if I HAD the money. ;_;

    Yeah, if I lived in US maybe I wouldn’t care about the price but in my case I should also consider the shipping costs. (usually around 13 USD if it’s not too heavy)

    I have a lot of books about manga’s sociology and history, I love them. I also would love to have more books about homoeroticism in Japan.

    Well, I’m sad to say that dollar raising in Brazil probably means little next to nothing to US economic situation as a whole. I bet it won’t affect your pockets either, unless you want to hire me for something, come to spend vacations or start a business where you have to import something from here. XD~

    It’s an internal measure of the government to help raising exportation. But importation will suffer greatly as one can’t make an omelet without breaking eggs.

    As an individual, well, my life will just suck as my money won’t buy my desired imports.

    Maybe it’s time to make my yaoi portfolio so I’ll be able to work for extra spending money.

    When I receive dollars I try never to think about it’s value in reais. I think like it’s an RPG and I just received credits to buy items. So sad, lol.

  • *chuckles* No. I wouldn’t pay to read it. Why waste money on a book about boys love when I could be buying boys love books instead? *grins*

  • Ooh, who could it be? It has to be one of their existing stable of mangaka. I doubt it is someone new or someone they have yet to announce the license of. It’s gonna be hard for them to top Tateno from this past year, so they’re gonna have to go for someone with instant name recognition. I’d love to see Toko Kawai, Yuki Shimizu, Ayano Yamane (though I think that particular right will go to whichever publisher wins the VF license battle) or maybe Hinako Takanaga in celebration of their rescue of Tyrant. I could also see them bringing over Taishi Zaioh/Mikiyo Tsuda and/or Eiki Eiki given their recent slew of releases from both. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if their guest came directly from their exclusive contract with Shinsokan through the DokiDoki imprint. Of course, this is all speculation and I have no recollection of DMP’s past Yaoi-con guests to go from.

    Well, if my fantasy came true it would be Ayano Yamane in celebration of licensing Viewfinder but I won’t hold my breath. ;_;
