Yaoi Pretty: Model Andrej Pejic

Thank you Barnes & Noble for bringing this gorgeous piece of androgyny to my attention. If you haven't heard, Barnes & Noble recently caused a stir by requiring magazine Dossier to censor its cover feeling that shirtless model Andrej Pejic looked too female and that customers may get the wrong idea. I'll leave it to you to decide if you agree or disagree with Barnes & Noble's decision. Here is the infamous cover 'uncensored' for your viewing pleasure.

Here's a little bit of his biography from Models.com:

"Country of origin: Bosnia-Herzegovina. Father is Croatian, mother is Serbian. From WWD profile December 20, 2010: "Since the fashion industry first began asking “Who’s the blonde girl?” at the Paris men’s shows in June (2010), 19-year- old Serbian Australian model Andrej Pejic has emerged as a poster boy for fashion androgyny. His long, platinum blonde hair and feminine features caught the attention of, among others, Steven Meisel and Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. Jean Paul Gaultier not only booked Pejic for his spring 2011 men’s show, he also cast him in his spring ad campaign alongside Czech supermodel Karolina Kurkova. Now it looks like Marc Jacobs may also be going the guess-the-gender route for his Marc by Marc Jacobs spring campaign. Pejic recently returned from shooting the ads in Marrakech with Juergen Teller alongside look-alike Latvian (female) model Ginta Lapina. Born in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Pejic and his family fled the war-torn region in the Nineties before settling as refugees in Melbourne, Australia."

Let's take a look at a few more delicious pictures of this androgynous beauty:

Do you know who he reminds me of? A blonde version of Bill Kaulitz (Tokio Hotel). LOVE that bone structure!

  • Wow. Even with clothes off, I can’t tell if I’m looking at a man or a woman. And on that Photo magazine cover he looks completely feminine.

Good to know. I suppose I’ll have to deal with DramaQueen sooner or later. >_< I’ve been waiting to discuss them until I felt comfortable that people were getting their product and not getting screwed over. Maybe I’ll place an order and see how it goes. :-)

You should :) I think they are the best publisher when it comes to quality.

Nana – OMG really? Awesome! Thank you for letting me know. When I bought ‘Missing Road’ in December, I hoped their next one would be ‘Junk’. I just wish they’d advertise a little more. Both ‘Missing Road’ and now this one, I only learned about from word-of-mouth.

Asami’s Girl – you really should go ahead and address them in a report or something, imho. They came out with ‘Missing Road’ back in Dec. I got my copy without problems as did several other who’s blogs I read. I’m about to order ‘Junk’, so I can let you know when I get it if you want? And is there any word on Yaoi Gen?

It would be helpful if they answered emails but they don’t. I don’t like that at all. As far as Yaoi Gen, no response there either. I think they’re done. :-(

That’s strange, I heard back from DramaQueen (I recently wrote an email to them. it took about 3 days, but they did get back.

I also wrote to YaoiGen to hear if it was still possible to order from their shop and if they were dead. I got this reply:

    ‘Hi there!

Yes, our shop is still open. We are just on a little hiatus from publication.

    Regards,

    Judy

This was at the end a April.

    ‘advertise a little more.’

I agree. Their manga is great and it’s a bit stupid not to advertise more on their part if they want to success in selling manga again.

I also got ‘Missing Road’ without problem. They ship very fast.

Very much so. I was stunned by how much he looks like Bill Kaulitz in the pics I posted. Very similar body and face structure.
