YAOI NEWS: DMP Continues The Digital Revolution!

Digital Manga Publishing has been continuing their push into digital publishing and I have a few updates to share with you. First let's start with their digital site eManga.com. You can now purchase and own your digital books instead of merely renting them like before. Now when you make a purchase it will stay in your reading list forever (or at least until the Rapture)!

DMP's Digital Manga Guild will be continuing with their biweekly teleconferences starting May 20th until Anime Expo so if you haven't been able to listen in on one, now's your chance. You need to be a registered guild member. To sign up for one of these teleconferences, login and go to your dashboard to see the sign-up times.

In response to the recent KINDLE censorship issues, which removed some of DMP's titles from not only the KINDLE but from print as well, DMP has responded by offering three of the print titles as a one package deal on Akadot. Now you can purchase Weekend Lovers, King of Debt and The Color of Love for only $18.99 but only through 5/27/11!

DMP has also expanded their digital books from eManga, KINDLE, the NOOK and TLAgay.com to now also include Border's eReader, Kobo! If you want to show Amazon you mean business about pulling your business, now you can!

Please note that Kobo distributes to not only the U.S. but Canada, Australia and New Zealand as well. You don't need to own a Kobo to read the books either! The Kobo offers apps for PC & Mac desktops, the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad as well as the Blackberry and Android. They also offer ePub and Mobi files so they are compatible with other eReaders.

The easiest way to shop for Digital Manga's eBooks is to go directly to their eBook store that has all of their digital titles with the options available for each. Or visit one of these digital storefronts for your area:

That's all for today's digital updates!

  • That’s great they got rid of that stupid renting first and then buying thing. That kind of stumped me because it felt like they were trying to get more money out of us instead. I mean, it’s great to have something like that, but they should also just let the people buy it the first time round for those who’d want to do it that way.

And I really want to try their service. Really, really, do. However, their site’s HTTPS is still showing up unsecured. And to use their service, it requires credit card transaction, and with the HTTPS broken there, I am not risking my credit card information through an unsecured website.

I remember seeing that. I should send them an email and find out if they know it’s broken.

I was wondering why the site looked that way.

  • I was set to buy the Nook but saw this news about the kobo so I’ll check them out and decide. Good news.

You can buy a regular eReader so you’re not tied into any one company. Just check the file types. They should accept ePub, PDF and Mobi at least. :-)

  • I didn’t know that, thanks.

  • Actually, I’m quite upset that they got rid of the option for renting. I just pretty much used my $20 worth of points on only 3 manga tonight when I used to be able to rent about 6 and have some to spare to purchase ones that I liked for only 100 points more for re-reading pleasure.
