Quick Synopsis:

Tasuku and Ryouta are two high school boys who have been friends since childhood, but Tasuku has a secret… he’s in love with Ryouta. Instead of telling his friend he has a crush on him, he uses his 'superior' karate skills to constantly beat him up. When Tasuku finds out he may have inherited the powers of an “ageman” from his mother, he tries to use them to bring him and Ryouta together.

Plot/Readability:

At first glance we have a pretty typical boys’ love plot; two schoolboys, friends since childhood, one secretly in love with the other. Luckily the mangaka takes the story a bit further by introducing the “ageman” twist. An “ageman” is typically supposed to be a woman who brings men good fortune but in our story it is Tasuku who thinks he has these powers inherited from his mother.

I must say when I picked this one up to read I really wasn’t expecting much from it. This is also only my second read from the DokiDoki imprint and didn’t realize this was an 18+ story and not the 16+ I was thinking (bonus!). I was sort of under the impression everything from DokiDoki was going to be pretty tame but this one had some spice to it. The story was interesting all the way through and it was an easily readable story. No translation hiccups or issues with speech bubbles to be found.

Character Development:

The characters in this one also surprised me. Tasuku made me smirk with his constant karate punches and kicks that he used to hide his embarrassment and Ryouta quickly turned from a somewhat silly character to my favorite by the end. He’s adorable! There’s also a sidekick friend who really did add to the story and we don’t often see that. If anything, these characters will definitely make you smile and the mangaka knows how to do cute. I’m a sucker for blushing, especially when it’s the seme! Speaking of, that’s another thing I enjoyed with this story. Although one character takes the uke roll, he’s the one in charge and there’s talk of switching places at the end. I didn’t feel like I really noticed either character being stuck in any one particular sexual role and that was nice to see.

Illustrations:

I liked the illustrations in this one and found myself actually checking out the background details. Ryouta’s hair style is really cute and as I said previously, she good with adorable. I didn’t find any major anatomy issues, which I find can sometimes pull me out of the story if bad enough.

Sexual Explicitness:

Now on to the good stuff! As I said earlier, this is rated 18+ so it is somewhat explicit. There are three “sexual” scenes but all are very short. In terms of what you will see, one has the infamous invisible penis while another gets a little more explicit with the ghost penis instead. Even though they were pretty short and not the most explicit I’ve seen I found myself still getting a little hot under the collar while reading it. Clearly this mangaka is pretty good and that’s saying something coming from me. XD

Final Thoughts:

If you haven’t checked out the DokiDoki line and are looking for something a little more explicit I would definitely recommend this one. The story is interesting enough to keep you entertained and the sex is just steamy enough to keep you flipping those pages, although not necessarily one handed if you know what I mean.
