YAOI CONTEST: Win a Copy of Viewfinder V4!
Digital Manga Publishing has graciously offered up four copies of Viewfinder Volume 4 for me to give away to you! The contest is open to everyone worldwide and this time I'm going to make the contest a little tougher. Contest entrants will need to complete a piece of dialogue from each of the prior three volumes released in order to have a chance of winning. The dialogue is taken straight from DMP's own releases and WILL NOT match to BeBeautiful's prior releases or scanlations. If you don't give me the exact dialogue, you can't win.Happy 2 Year Anniversary, The Yaoi Review!
The Yaoi Review 10/24/08
Yay! It's the site's 2 year anniversary today and I'm in the giving mood. Since today is also Hetalia Day (per TOKYOPOP) I thought I'd give away some Hetalia merchandise I've been saving for a special occasion. The first item I have is this gorgeous full color Hetalia Fan Book. Seriously, you need to see this thing. The dust cover is almost luminescent and the color and quality of the pages is quite nice. I bought this from Kinokuniya Bookstores for $19.20 and the money was graciously donated by Tara-Chan back in December for use as a prize when I moved the site from LiveJournal to it's own domain. I've been sitting on this book since then trying to figure out the best way to give it away and I think now is the time! It's Hetalia Day baby!
CONTEST: Winners of the Viewfinder Contest!
There were a decent amount of entries but deciding who deserved to call themselves Viewfinder's BIGGEST fan wasn't easy. Let me start by saying that illegally downloaded materials did not qualify as proving you are the biggest fan. Sorry. Once I weeded those entries out, I chose 4 that I felt deserved a copy even though I did have 5 copies to give away. So without further adieu, here they are!
This entry stood out above all others. Now THIS is dedication!
I'm such a big fan of The Finder series that I immediately purchased all three released volumes from BeBeautiful on the days they became available for purchase from their website. I then packed the books in a ziplock bag, with the air squeezed out, and placed them in a fireproof safe for safe keeping. ~Jukebox
Awesome!
CONTEST:Are you Finder’s biggest fan? PROVE IT!
If you think you're Finder's biggest fan, here is your chance to prove it and win an ADVANCED COPY of volume 1 releasing in September! How do you prove it? You decide! I'm leaving it totally up to you. Write a poem, photograph your collection, do a video of yourself squeeing over its upcoming release… it's up to you! Whatever you choose, do it fast! This contest ends at midnight PST on August 31st, 2010.
Oh, did I mention I have FIVE COPIES to give away AND that this contest is open to ALL countries? No excuses! Now show some love to Digital Manga who has graciously agreed to provide the five advanced copies AND were nice enough to agree to ship them international when I asked. You know me, always looking out for my international readers.
Feel free to comment here, thank them on twitter or visit them on their site.
All contest entries must be submitted by midnight PST on 8/31/10 via email to:

If you have questions about the contest, please post them below in comments so all can see the answer. Have fun with it and I look forward to what you crazy fans come up with!

SITE UPDATE: WTF?
No, I did not fall off the face of the earth these last two months. What started off as a short hiatus to move into a new apartment turned into a long hiatus to have emergency surgery and buy a new damn computer 'cause my other one died a horrendous death causing me to lose a lot of stuff I didn't want to. (let's not even discuss that external hard-drive that did NOT do its job >_> ) Anywayz, I almost have my new laptop functional enough to get back into updating the site on a regular(ish) basis so let's celebrate with a new banner!
If you remember, we had a banner contest at the beginning of the year and this was our 2nd place winner. It was supposed to go up July 1st but yeah, life happened. Well, it's up now and it will get its time to shine! I've got something REALLY exciting coming up but I'm keeping it hush hush for right now. *cough* Viewfinder related *cough* Yep, totally hush hush.

CONTEST: Banner Contest Winners!
I've picked three winners for my banner contest. The main winner is already above and was done by Sarah Talbot. Her banner will be up for the next four months. The next entry to debut in July will be from Lissa of the site Kuri-ousity, who did the design and the logo, and her artistic counterpart MT Copyright, who did the art, and their entry will debut in July. The final entry to debut will be from someone many of you will be familiar with, Anne Cain, whose entry will debut in October and carry us through the holidays.
I thought about NOT showing you their entries and making you all suffer this year but I don't want to make the creators wait so here they are ^_^ :
Lissa & MT Copyright
Anne Cain
BTW, this was VERY difficult to decide because there were some really awesome entries that I would still love to use in the future but having more winners just didn't seem right so I had to pick the top three. Thank you to all the people who entered! I appreciate your artistic talent and taking the time to do this.
CONTEST: Starfighter Fan Art Contest Winners!
Well, by far this was and probably will be the toughest contest to decide of them all. So tough I had to bring in the help of some 'celebrity' judges to assist me. The four of us ranked the entries and I decided on those rankings who came in 1st, 2nd and 3rd as I felt those three all deserved a prize. As a reminder, I was looking for the entry that best captured what Starfighter was about and I think you'll agree the first place winner did just that. Without further adieu, here they are!
First place goes to Chelsea and here is her entry (definitely original and captures the dynamics between Cain and Abel):

Here is a link to the original post with all the details.
There are only a few entries so chances to win are good!
CONTEST: Valentine’s Themed AMV Winners!
Happy Valentine's Day everyone and what better way to celebrate than with a beautiful AMV inspired by yaoi and Valentine's Day! The winner of this contest is "BliceHeart" (YouTube name). Here is her wonderful AMV with a song that has quickly become my favorite:
The runner up is "TheYaoiObsessioner". Congrats to both and thanks for taking the time to put these together and participating in the contest!
