This is an excerpt from the upcoming 6/28/11 DVD release of Christopher and His Kind starring Dr. Who star Matt Smith. Here's a synopsis of the movie:

YAOI MANGA REVIEW: Maiden Rose Volume 2

Maiden Rose Volume 2~ Fusanosuke Inariya
June Manga ~ 200 pages

Quick Synopsis:

“When a mysterious train charts a path through the demilitarized (and allegedly tainted) No Man’s Land, Taki must act quickly in order to prevent its passage into his domain. But will he protect his own boundaries from the brute advances of Claus… or is he prepared to welcome a forceful invasion? Sometimes a minor skirmish becomes an all-out war for prized territory… and only the strongest soldier will be left standing once the final shot is fired.”

YAOI REVIEW: Maiden Rose Volume 1

In honor of this year's YaoiCon guest, Fusanosuke Inariya.

Maiden Rose ~ Fusanosuke Inariya
June Manga ~ 200 pages

Quick Synopsis:

“Taki Reizen is an honorable young aristocrat caught between his call to duty and a forbidden love. Claus von Wolfstadt is the proud Saxon who becomes Taki’s knight in a war against his own people… and his secret lover! Will these two passionate men lay down their weapons once they’re off the battlefield, or will they push the very limits of their sacred alliance?”

Plot/Readability:

What can I say? We actually have a plot to go with our sex. Maiden Rose is a love story wrapped in a war story tied with a beautiful ribbon of BDSM. Lord Taki met Saxon Claus von Wolfstadt ten years earlier in Taki’s home country and as fate would have it they were destined to meet again, this time in the grasp of war. Claus’s feelings for Taki run so deep he gives up his country, his citizenship and his family to move to Taki’s homeland (and enemy territory) to be his knight. Although Taki is in charge on the battlefield, it is Claus who is in charge behind closed doors.

YAOI NEWS: Black Butler English Dub Trailer

I'm a bit stunned… I'm not sure how I feel about Sebastian's voice in English. Well, I DO know how I feel about it but I'm trying to hold off on making any rash judgments. I think I need the shock to pass first.

What do you think?

YAOI NEWS (UPDATED): Black Butler S1 Up For Preorder!

Yes, I know Black Butler isn't 'technically' yaoi but those of us familiar with it knows it's FULL of fanservice (need I mention the corset scene?). Not only is volume 3 of the manga now available but season 1 of the anime is up for preorder! The release date is set for January 11, 2011 and currently Rightstuf.com is listing it for $38.99.

UPDATE: I found out that Black Butler Season 1 is being released in TWO parts so the release on January 11th is only the first part of season 1, found here with Limited Edition found here, and the second part is being released on March 8th, 2011, found here (no part 2 Limited Edition is showing yet) . Personally I'm waiting for another Funimation sale before investing in this two parter, regardless of how much I love it. $89.98 for only one season is a bit steep and that's not for the Limited Edition, although I have no idea what extras that includes.

UPDATE #2: Interesting, looks like until the limited edition sells out, you can't buy the regular edition (at RightStuf). This is what it says on the regular edition:

Note: This regular edition does not contain the rigid box and premium item included with the limited edition, and will not ship until after the limited edition has sold out.

YAOI REVIEW: Loud Snow ~ Tina Anderson

Loud Snow
Tina Anderson (writer) & Amelie Belcher (artist)
Self-Published Print & Digital ~ 140 Pages

Quick Synopsis:

“Romantic ice-age hilarity ensues as young whaler Anituk's miserable life with doting parents and an oversexed wife-hunting brother is rudely interrupted by the arrival of Abalu, a tall handsome stranger who delights in encroaching upon Anituk's angst.”

Plot:

Wow… what an original plot! Loud Snow takes place on the Eastern coast of North America in 17,000 B.C., better know as the Ice Age. The story focuses on one family in general with a mother, father and two brothers, Anituk and his older brother Nifu. The family lives farther north than other tribes and women are scarce. Nifu has now reached the age where he must look for a wife and our young Anituk doesn’t understand why he wants to replace their mother. It becomes pretty clear our little Anituk isn’t really into chicks.

Along comes stranger Abalu who’s tall with flowing long hair and an adorable smile. It’s not long before he takes a liking to Anituk and this is where ‘hilarity ensues’. I can’t tell you how many times I laughed out loud while reading this, especially when Abalu introduces himself to Anituk’s nether regions or when he keeps drop kicking the penguins. Tina’s sense of humor is nicely paired with Amelie’s facial expressions and the two together make for a funny read. Another thing I liked about this plot is the twist at the end. It’s not something you see coming and the initial reaction is WTF?!?!, but just hold your horses and don’t go off the deep end like I nearly did. That’s all I’ll say.

YAOI WEBCOMIC: Teahouse

This is a new webcomic that definitely includes yaoi in it. It's possible it will have some 'het' in it as well, it's too early to tell at this point. So far there are six pages posted and it will be updating three times a month (1st, 10th and 20th).

What do you think? Hot or not?
